Since newborns arrive on their own schedule, it’s essential to book your newborn session in advance (preferably during pregnancy). I'll hold spots based on your due date and will adjust the session once your baby arrives.
LIFESTYLE NEWBORN SESSIONS
Are generally more relaxed and less posed. These sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, offering a more intimate, personal experience. The focus here is on capturing the natural moments between your baby and family members. Lifestyle sessions typically happen within the first few weeks of life, often between two to six weeks after birth, giving enough time for the family to settle into their new routine. Unlike studio sessions, lifestyle shoots avoid props and staged setups, instead embracing the everyday elements of your home—your baby in the crib, being held by family members, or cuddling on the couch. The goal is to capture real, candid moments that tell the story of your new life together as a family. Since there are fewer posed shots, lifestyle sessions tend to be shorter, lasting around two to three hours. The photographer works with natural light and guides the family through some gentle direction, encouraging authentic interactions that reflect your family’s connection. The final images feel soft, organic, and full of genuine emotion. The main difference between these two types of sessions comes down to the environment, approach, and overall feel of the photos.

STUDIO NEWBORN SESSION
Are typically held within the first 5 to 14 days of a baby’s life (If you have an older baby I highly recommend a lifestyle session). This early timeframe is chosen because babies are usually sleepiest during this period, making it easier for the photographer to capture those serene, curled-up poses that are characteristic of this type of session. A studio newborn session takes place in a controlled environment, specifically designed for newborn photography. The photographer uses professional lighting, blankets, props, and backdrops to create a soft, timeless look. The session is highly posed, with the baby placed in different setups that highlight their delicate features. Props such as baskets, wraps, bonnets, and other personalized elements often play a key role in studio sessions, helping to create a unique and creative aesthetic. Since studio sessions involve multiple setups and poses, they can last anywhere from two to three hours, allowing for breaks for feeding and soothing the baby. The end result is a series of polished, timeless images that focus on the baby’s tiny features, often with soft lighting and gentle editing that brings out the softness of their skin and the innocence of their expression.
